Despite the advances in medicine, giving birth is not always straightforward. Get talking to any mother about her birth experience and it is almost certain to result in a lengthy conversation as to the drama, complications, unforeseen problems and, of course, pain – except for the lucky few who sail through it and love every moment!
My personal experience was life threatening and felt barbaric – I will spare you the details… Fortunately, despite my complications, I have two beautiful healthy children. Not everyone is so lucky. It is therefore reassuring to know that the NHS are looking to learn from past mistakes and set up new procedures that heralds a move away from litigation for injured babies;
